[00:02:35.000 --> 00:02:39.240] Ingrid, I am so excited to record this episode with you.
[00:02:39.240 --> 00:02:43.560] It has been four plus years in the making.
[00:02:43.720 --> 00:02:52.760] We have to tell everyone how we initially met and because it was through the power of the community that you created on Instagram.
[00:02:52.760 --> 00:03:08.440] Yeah, I feel like I don't even know where to start because I feel like this has been a long time coming, but I can't wait to dive into our story because I think that it's going to make people realize that they have been building their own community without even realizing it over time.
[00:03:08.440 --> 00:03:13.000] And it's about the people that you pick up along the way, which you always hear me say, but you're one of them.
[00:03:13.000 --> 00:03:15.000] And I'm so happy to be here.
[00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:15.800] It truly is.
[00:03:15.800 --> 00:03:22.360] Like there really is nothing more powerful than building a community and the connections and relationships that you build.
[00:03:22.360 --> 00:03:27.160] So I want to tell everyone how we connected on Instagram.
[00:03:27.160 --> 00:03:34.360] So it was, I think it was the end of March, beginning of April, 2020, in the middle of the pandemic.
[00:03:34.360 --> 00:03:40.920] We were all, I feel like, just like a mess, trying to survive, trying to take care of our little ones.
[00:03:40.920 --> 00:03:43.560] And you know, me, I'm sharing on Instagram.
[00:03:43.560 --> 00:03:46.320] I'm always connecting with other people on Instagram.
[00:03:44.840 --> 00:03:50.560] And I posted what was going on and how I was feeling.
[00:03:50.720 --> 00:03:59.120] And I was crying, and I took a selfie of myself crying and wanted to be able to share that with other people, sharing like you're not alone, like it's really hard right now.
[00:03:59.440 --> 00:04:11.280] And you, I think, slid into my DMs and saw that post and wanted to share it and repost it with the community that you had created on Instagram, Working Mom Kind.
[00:04:11.280 --> 00:04:13.280] And the rest is history.
[00:04:13.600 --> 00:04:24.400] And thankfully, you agreed to let me share it because I feel like that has been one of the biggest secrets and the number one tip that I tell people when they ask me, like, how did you grow it to such a big number?
[00:04:24.400 --> 00:04:26.960] It really is following what you're feeling.
[00:04:26.960 --> 00:04:28.640] And you were feeling what I was feeling.
[00:04:28.640 --> 00:04:31.840] In that moment, I knew that we weren't the only ones feeling that way.
[00:04:31.840 --> 00:04:38.240] And we weren't because when we reshared your post, we were able to see that there were so many of us feeling the same way.
[00:04:38.560 --> 00:04:39.120] Yes.
[00:04:39.120 --> 00:04:46.480] And for everyone listening right now, we'll link out to that post, that fateful, amazing post on Instagram that brought Ingrid and I together.
[00:04:46.480 --> 00:04:54.480] And now, you know, we'll dive into what we've now done together over the past four years from that first DM post.
[00:04:54.480 --> 00:05:22.400] But it's just so amazing to think about how one message on Instagram can lead to such ultimate impact because now through the two of us meeting together, becoming friends, connecting, doing business together, you creating more businesses, us doing stuff together, me referring you to people in my network that have now helped build your business, like all from how I was feeling on Instagram and posting that initial post back in 2020.
[00:05:22.400 --> 00:05:23.680] It's just crazy.
[00:05:23.680 --> 00:05:44.120] It's also wild to think about how much all of that has changed, which I know if you follow me, you know how much I talk about this, but the social media that we used to deal with even just four years ago is completely different than what we deal with now and it's always about going back to the reason behind why it was invented in the first place, which is just being social.
[00:05:44.120 --> 00:05:45.160] And that's what we were doing.
[00:05:45.160 --> 00:05:48.760] We were connecting with each other in a very genuine way.
[00:05:48.760 --> 00:05:52.600] Yes, social media was created to be social.
[00:05:52.600 --> 00:05:54.600] Like we have to put that social back in social media.
[00:05:54.600 --> 00:05:59.160] But yeah, so much has changed over the past four years and we're going to dive into all of it.
[00:05:59.160 --> 00:06:02.840] I want to rewind even farther than four years ago.
[00:06:02.840 --> 00:06:07.480] I want to go back to your childhood first, Ingrid, before we dive into everything you're doing today.
[00:06:07.480 --> 00:06:14.600] When you were growing up, did you always have on your mind like you wanted to be a business owner and start your own business one day?
[00:06:14.600 --> 00:06:26.520] So I was very entrepreneurial, but I feel like it was more in my attitude and the way that I was with people than my actual ideas and things that I did, if that makes any sense.
[00:06:26.520 --> 00:06:40.040] Like I had that part of the attitude and the grit of being an entrepreneur, but it didn't, it didn't happen until 2017 when I was pregnant with my first and had my baby that it all sort of like clicked together.
[00:06:40.040 --> 00:06:54.280] I went to school for it and I did a lot of projects and, you know, I dove into it in certain aspects, but it wasn't until I kind of found my passion that I put all of it together to really create something that felt meaningful and genuine to me.
[00:06:54.280 --> 00:06:56.680] And what was that business and community?
[00:06:56.680 --> 00:06:59.880] That was Working Mom Kind, which was, it still is.
[00:06:59.880 --> 00:07:08.600] It's a community that was meant to bring moms together that were feeling lonely as soon as they became mothers.
[00:07:08.600 --> 00:07:34.160] And it all came about because I moved from Texas to New York City after graduating college and i left all of my family and friends behind i was also one of the last of my friends to have a baby and so even though i had a very supportive husband and his family was here with us too it hit me when I had my baby that there were all these questions and thoughts that I didn't even realize I was ever going to feel.
[00:07:34.160 --> 00:07:36.240] Nobody warned me about them, but they were there.
[00:07:36.240 --> 00:07:40.000] And so naturally, I was scrolling on Instagram at 3 a.m.
[00:07:40.160 --> 00:07:41.680] nursing my baby.
[00:07:41.680 --> 00:07:43.120] And I was like, you know what?
[00:07:43.120 --> 00:07:46.720] I know I'm not the only one, but if I am, we're going to find out.
[00:07:46.720 --> 00:07:58.880] And so I created an account to follow my journey from being on maternity leave to going back to work and really see if I could connect with other moms who are feeling the same way as I was.
[00:07:58.880 --> 00:08:01.120] Like I wasn't sure if I wanted to go back to work.
[00:08:01.680 --> 00:08:05.920] Nobody ever really told me like, hey, maybe you might feel a little lost.
[00:08:05.920 --> 00:08:07.120] And that's just the beginning.
[00:08:07.120 --> 00:08:08.160] That's just like the surface.
[00:08:08.160 --> 00:08:20.400] There were so many other topics that I feel like we're not really well versed in as soon as we become parents because everyone is so worried about the birth of your baby, but not really the new person that you'll become after you become a mother.
[00:08:20.400 --> 00:08:25.760] And so I quickly, very, very quickly realized that I wasn't alone, that it wasn't just me.
[00:08:25.760 --> 00:08:40.160] And so what started as a personal project where I was just documenting my transition into motherhood and being a working mother after that and a career professional just evolved into a big community of so many of you and so many mothers who felt the same way.
[00:08:40.160 --> 00:08:41.440] And we just grew together.
[00:08:41.440 --> 00:08:45.680] And it turned into a blog and a newsletter and partnerships and events.
[00:08:45.680 --> 00:08:47.840] And the rest is still happening.
[00:08:47.840 --> 00:08:48.720] It's still evolving.
[00:08:48.720 --> 00:08:58.080] And I think that's what I love the most about community: that when you really stick to your shared purpose and you find your people, you can build together.
[00:08:58.080 --> 00:09:03.160] And I think that it's just so powerful because you're kind of there for a long time.
[00:09:03.480 --> 00:09:10.680] You're not just building a community and passing, you're building it because you feel so passionate about this topic that it can evolve with you over years.
[00:09:10.680 --> 00:09:15.000] It's been seven years now, and I'm still here, and we're still connecting.
[00:09:15.320 --> 00:09:21.240] When you first created the Instagram account, that was 2017 when you first created it.
[00:09:21.560 --> 00:09:26.280] You were initially, you know, wanting to share what was going on in your life and connecting with others.
[00:09:26.280 --> 00:09:35.480] How soon was it where you were like, I think I might have something here where this could be more than just an Instagram account connecting moms, this could be an actual business?
[00:09:35.480 --> 00:09:41.960] It happened when I started receiving DMs from moms saying, I want to share my story too.
[00:09:42.280 --> 00:09:48.120] And that's when I was like, okay, this could become something where now it's not centered about me.
[00:09:48.120 --> 00:09:50.680] I never wanted it to be centered on me.
[00:09:50.680 --> 00:10:05.720] And I think if you go back and scroll to the very beginning, you'll see that I was, I was sort of this ghostwriter behind the account because I really wanted it to focus on the actual shared purpose, which was moms coming together who are feeling lonely in a transition stage in their lives.
[00:10:05.720 --> 00:10:07.960] And I started sharing the stories.
[00:10:07.960 --> 00:10:10.280] And that's when it was just like, I feel this way too.
[00:10:10.280 --> 00:10:11.480] Or what about my story?
[00:10:11.480 --> 00:10:13.640] And like, I even connected moms.
[00:10:13.640 --> 00:10:29.320] There was this one time where there were two, I shared a mom's story, and somebody else who read the post and commented in on the post, they found out that they were actually working for the same company, a huge Fortune 500 company in different departments.
[00:10:29.320 --> 00:10:40.040] That they were like, had it not been for you and this community, we would have never even known that we were both mothers working in the same company and now we can work together, advocate for each other, like really drive change.
[00:10:40.040 --> 00:10:49.040] So, when I started seeing just the ripples of everything, I was like, I just have to keep going because if there's anything that I feel like moms and parents need in general, it's a platform.
[00:10:49.360 --> 00:10:56.880] And so, it made me feel good to be able to provide a space, even if the reach wasn't, you know, as huge as some might want it to.
[00:10:56.880 --> 00:11:00.240] I was hitting people all over the world, and I still am.
[00:11:00.240 --> 00:11:04.160] And so, it just felt really good just to be able to make someone feel heard.
[00:11:04.160 --> 00:11:08.080] And then that turning into someone feeling like they're being seen.
[00:11:08.080 --> 00:11:11.360] So, it was just a really nice, I get chills thinking about it.
[00:11:11.360 --> 00:11:14.160] I know, I just got chills as you were sharing that story.
[00:11:14.160 --> 00:11:26.960] And I feel like you, just like seeing this every day, how these communities and connections can just lead to so many incredible things for the members and the people that are part of the communities that are created.
[00:11:26.960 --> 00:11:30.080] So, it's just, I get chills even hearing about it.
[00:11:30.080 --> 00:11:32.480] So, okay, so take me through now.
[00:11:32.480 --> 00:11:33.680] It's 2017.
[00:11:33.680 --> 00:11:37.040] You create this account, it starts taking off pretty quickly.
[00:11:37.040 --> 00:11:40.720] The audience is growing, people are connecting.
[00:11:40.720 --> 00:11:42.000] Then, what happened next?
[00:11:42.000 --> 00:11:42.960] What did you do?
[00:11:42.960 --> 00:11:45.680] This is, I feel like, where the, it's all fun, right?
[00:11:45.680 --> 00:11:56.720] But I think this is where I was like, okay, there's people that are expecting content now, and there's people that are relying on like opening up their feet and seeing, like, hey, what at working Mom Kind post today?
[00:11:56.720 --> 00:12:02.720] So, I feel like it was a big wake-up call of like, okay, I have to be ready for this and I have to commit the time.
[00:12:02.720 --> 00:12:18.720] So, as a new mom who was also working a complete nine-to-five full-time job, I had to really build that a schedule of like, I'm going to wake up in the morning, get everything ready, take my baby to daycare, come back, and give myself a full hour to plan out for the week.
[00:12:18.720 --> 00:12:26.960] And even like that same day before I dive into my nine-to-five, and then same at the end of the day, I would pick up my baby, we'd have dinner, do bathtim, bedtime.
[00:12:26.960 --> 00:12:36.760] Once he was asleep, and I was pumping, literally sitting on the desk with my husband next to me, I was just like typing everything up, creating posts, scheduling, like connecting with moms.
[00:12:36.840 --> 00:12:55.240] So it really was all about making sure that I felt committed to the time and effort, but also giving myself the space to build that a schedule that worked for me so that I could continue to grow this because I could see that there was a lot of potential for what was kind of happening at the same time in real life.
[00:12:55.240 --> 00:12:58.680] And so I just wanted to make sure that I was giving it the right time.
[00:12:58.680 --> 00:13:10.520] And I know with social media, it can be a little hard to stay focused and, you know, block out all the noise, but I stayed consistent and I was really focused on moms who wanted to share their stories.
[00:13:10.520 --> 00:13:14.440] And I think it made it very easy because I had my shared purpose locked down.
[00:13:14.440 --> 00:13:15.880] I knew my target audience.
[00:13:15.880 --> 00:13:18.840] I knew everything that I, I had all the boxes checked.
[00:13:18.840 --> 00:13:31.720] So at that point, it was like going with my instincts and feelings, similar to what we were just talking about, really what is going on around me and doing a temp check and focusing on translating that into content that was very relevant that same day.
[00:13:32.040 --> 00:13:35.560] And I think that's really what helped grow.
[00:13:36.200 --> 00:13:46.120] I think so many entrepreneurs start businesses on the side based on just things that happen organically or problems that you're looking to solve.
[00:13:46.120 --> 00:14:04.200] And so many of us are working nine to five jobs as we're building something on the side and come to this place where we're like, okay, I can keep doing this on the side or I can leave my corporate job or leave the other job that I'm focused on and really go in full steam ahead.
[00:14:04.200 --> 00:14:15.440] Up next, Ingrid shares her journey from corporate employee to full-time entrepreneur and how one connection through her community led to her first opportunity to leave her nine-to-five job.
[00:14:20.240 --> 00:14:21.440] Hi, Entrepreneurs.
[00:14:21.440 --> 00:14:22.560] It's Steph here.

[00:14:29.200 --> 00:14:33.840] And that's why we created our Entrepreneur Founders Weekend Wealth and Wellness Retreat.
[00:14:33.840 --> 00:14:36.000] And I can't wait to meet you in person there.
[00:14:36.000 --> 00:14:50.160] So you're officially invited to join us from April 30th to May 3rd, 2026 at the stunning PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for three transformative days of connection, collaboration, and real business growth.

[00:15:27.280 --> 00:15:28.720] I'll see you there.
[00:15:38.480 --> 00:15:49.840] When did you ultimately decide to leave your nine-to-five job to focus on building what now is Working Mom Kind and your new business grow with community?
[00:15:49.840 --> 00:15:50.880] And everything else.
[00:15:50.880 --> 00:15:53.680] I want to say it was definitely a back and forth.
[00:15:54.240 --> 00:16:01.080] I think what made it slightly easier, but also complicated was that we were going, we were in the thick of the pandemic.
[00:15:59.920 --> 00:16:02.280] And so nothing was certain.
[00:16:02.440 --> 00:16:08.120] I was trying to hold on as long as I could, but still trying to push Working Momkind because I could see the momentum.
[00:16:08.120 --> 00:16:11.800] But given the like talking about the power of community.
[00:16:12.120 --> 00:16:16.520] I was through a friend that also had a community for moms.
[00:16:16.520 --> 00:16:17.240] We connected.
[00:16:17.240 --> 00:16:21.240] She was hosting an online event and she was like, hey, do you want to moderate this session?
[00:16:21.240 --> 00:16:22.840] So I was like, sure, let's do it.
[00:16:22.840 --> 00:16:24.440] We'll support each other.
[00:16:24.440 --> 00:16:25.480] I'll help you promote.
[00:16:25.480 --> 00:16:26.360] It'll be great.
[00:16:26.360 --> 00:16:33.800] And so I became the moderator for the session and the event where I met another fellow mom, Amanda Goetz, who was building House of Wise.
[00:16:34.040 --> 00:16:39.880] And so we connected after like the event and we were after the session that I moderated, we stayed in touch.
[00:16:39.880 --> 00:16:41.320] We would share each other's posts.
[00:16:41.320 --> 00:16:46.440] Like we really were connected again because of the communities, two different communities that came together.
[00:16:46.520 --> 00:16:47.880] Now I met another person.
[00:16:47.880 --> 00:16:51.240] So this is how like the web of community just keeps expanding.
[00:16:51.240 --> 00:16:54.040] And then a few weeks later, she was like, oh, I'm on Twitter.
[00:16:54.040 --> 00:16:55.480] She was like, I'm building something new.
[00:16:55.480 --> 00:16:57.880] Like, let me know if you want to be a part of it, blah, blah, blah.
[00:16:57.880 --> 00:17:02.120] So I was like, okay, like if you need to tap into the audience of moms, let me know.
[00:17:02.120 --> 00:17:03.640] I'd love to support you along the way.
[00:17:03.640 --> 00:17:05.560] Like happy to promote what you're building.
[00:17:05.560 --> 00:17:12.040] And this turned into having a conversation and really connecting on a deeper level of like, hey, I can help you build your community.
[00:17:12.040 --> 00:17:18.600] And so I left my nine to five to work for House of Wise, a startup in the health and wellness industry for women.
[00:17:18.600 --> 00:17:29.320] And I ended up helping Amanda grow and nurture the affiliate community, which it's just another avenue of what the power of community building can do for you and your business.
[00:17:29.320 --> 00:17:35.160] And so that was what allowed me to say, okay, I'm leaving my nine-to-five.
[00:17:35.160 --> 00:17:39.000] I'm working part-time for House of Wise, helping them launch and grow their community.
[00:17:39.000 --> 00:17:44.800] And now I can really focus on using everything that I've learned to continue to grow my own community.
[00:17:44.280 --> 00:17:49.360] And so at this point, I was actually laser focused on all things community.
[00:17:50.080 --> 00:17:53.840] And then from here, it just blew up in the best way possible.
[00:17:54.480 --> 00:18:04.640] No, it's so amazing how just one thing leads to the next, and everything can happen so organically when you put yourself in the right situations, you surround yourself with the right community.
[00:18:04.640 --> 00:18:06.480] These things just start to happen.
[00:18:06.480 --> 00:18:08.960] It is this whole, this whole web of communities.
[00:18:08.960 --> 00:18:10.400] I absolutely love it.
[00:18:10.400 --> 00:18:18.080] Okay, so tell me now and tell everyone about your new business, grow with community and who you help and work with.
[00:18:18.080 --> 00:18:20.240] Yes, so let's just backtrack a little bit.
[00:18:20.240 --> 00:18:22.160] So I stayed at House of Wise.
[00:18:22.320 --> 00:18:23.360] It was a great time.
[00:18:23.360 --> 00:18:26.000] I think I was there for almost a little bit over two years.
[00:18:26.000 --> 00:18:27.680] And then House of Wise got acquired.
[00:18:27.760 --> 00:18:31.040] Very exciting time for Amanda Guettes and the team.
[00:18:31.040 --> 00:18:34.000] And that's when I found out that I was pregnant with baby number two.
[00:18:34.000 --> 00:18:40.880] So I was like, okay, this is something that I was very excited for, but now I'm like, what are we going to do?
[00:18:40.880 --> 00:18:50.560] So after House of Wise got acquired, I was like, you know, I'm just trying to relax and, you know, maybe see what's next, you know, hang out for a little bit.
[00:18:50.560 --> 00:18:58.240] And then friends of friends and you and everybody else that was in my circle were like, hey, Ingrid, we see that you're not doing much.
[00:18:58.240 --> 00:19:00.080] So like, why don't you come help us?
[00:19:00.080 --> 00:19:13.760] And so it turned into freelance projects to help people build their communities and really like think through the strategy of how community could help them and their business and what that could look like for them in a way that aligns.
[00:19:14.080 --> 00:19:20.000] And that same year, I think it was October, in October, I was like, you know what?
[00:19:20.000 --> 00:19:24.000] This is something that I should actually dedicate my everything to.
[00:19:24.320 --> 00:19:26.640] And so I finally registered the business.
[00:19:26.640 --> 00:19:27.680] I created the website.
[00:19:27.680 --> 00:19:32.920] I opened up my new Instagram account because I'm obsessed with just growing and creating new things.
[00:19:33.320 --> 00:19:39.640] And I really started focusing on putting content that was very educational and valuable to bring community builders together.
[00:19:39.640 --> 00:19:51.080] That could be creators, it could be founders, entrepreneurs that are looking to build that direct line into their customers and turn their audience that we work so hard to build on social media into a community that works for them.
[00:19:51.080 --> 00:19:52.760] And so I started work.
[00:19:52.760 --> 00:19:55.960] I worked with you guys at the Entrepreneurs League, which I love so much.
[00:19:55.960 --> 00:19:56.840] I love your team.
[00:19:56.840 --> 00:19:57.800] I love the community.
[00:19:57.800 --> 00:20:09.960] Not only was I able to be a member and then come in and help you guys during a transition period, but really, it was really nice to be able to say, I know how all of this works and just come in and feel really comfortable about it.
[00:20:09.960 --> 00:20:18.920] So helping with moderating Facebook groups for communities and growing them to ensure that they can monetize their digital products with mom creators.
[00:20:18.920 --> 00:20:20.200] I'm helping them out too.
[00:20:20.200 --> 00:20:24.200] I started working with Blueberry Pediatrics to help them grow their affiliate system.
[00:20:24.200 --> 00:20:30.840] I worked with Carrie Kirfin to grow the first community for women who have exited their businesses, which is so exciting.
[00:20:31.080 --> 00:20:34.600] And also with Farnouge to build a community around financial wellness.
[00:20:34.600 --> 00:20:44.360] So it really has been really great to connect with people that have been in a web that started off of a DM four years ago, right?
[00:20:44.360 --> 00:20:55.880] That just evolved into my own, I guess, like transition as a woman, as my own person, but also as a mother of like everybody has so many different paths in which you can go.
[00:20:55.880 --> 00:21:05.000] And I think as an entrepreneur, it really they talk a lot about following, you know, your passion and what you love, but I don't think they talk about the before.
[00:21:05.000 --> 00:21:09.400] And like my passion was about moms, but it was grounded in community.
[00:21:09.400 --> 00:21:14.440] And then it led me to the real, like the real path that right now is everything.
[00:21:14.440 --> 00:21:16.000] I wake up thinking about community.
[00:21:16.000 --> 00:21:17.440] I talk to people about community.
[00:21:14.840 --> 00:21:18.640] I gather people together.
[00:21:18.800 --> 00:21:22.880] Like, this really is what Working Mom Kind allowed me to do.
[00:21:22.880 --> 00:21:24.880] And it turns out to be my second business.
[00:21:24.880 --> 00:21:28.560] And now I get to help others do what I love so much.
[00:21:28.560 --> 00:21:36.720] I mean, even with a Mexican-American background growing up in Mexico, it's all about like bringing your neighbors in and having big families and all coming together and helping each other.
[00:21:36.720 --> 00:21:48.800] And so when I think about just my life as a person and my culture and my background and even my professional journey that led me here, it's just, it's all been there all along.
[00:21:48.800 --> 00:21:53.520] It just really, I just needed that push to really say, I can do this.
[00:21:53.520 --> 00:22:04.880] And it wouldn't have happened without community, without meeting the right people and surrounding myself with those that maybe were building something as well and were entrepreneurs too.
[00:22:04.880 --> 00:22:09.440] And they saw the power and the value and said, we need to work together.
[00:22:09.440 --> 00:22:13.280] And I think this is all like community is just, it's just a huge web.
[00:22:13.280 --> 00:22:15.040] And I think it really is what you define it.
[00:22:15.040 --> 00:22:24.560] And for me, it really has been the magic of picking up people along the way, but really staying together through the evolution, the many evolutions.
[00:22:24.560 --> 00:22:30.400] And I think if my, my, if Carter was here, my six-year-old, he would laugh because he would think it's, I'm talking about Pokemon.
[00:22:30.400 --> 00:22:31.600] It's like evolution.
[00:22:31.840 --> 00:22:34.160] It's just, you evolve as a person.
[00:22:34.160 --> 00:22:37.280] And, you know, who we were seven years ago, it's not who we are now.
[00:22:37.280 --> 00:22:41.280] But I think that's the beauty of having those people around you and growing together.
[00:22:41.600 --> 00:22:51.200] Even if it's as a business and even if it's as your customers, like they are going to help you improve your customer experience, improve your products, improve your service in general, your branding.
[00:22:51.200 --> 00:22:54.400] Like there's so much value in having people around you.
[00:22:54.400 --> 00:22:57.280] And that is how powerful community is.
[00:22:57.280 --> 00:22:59.240] I love that you're sharing this.
[00:22:59.240 --> 00:23:04.200] And it just really gets me reflecting too on just really the past decade.
[00:23:04.360 --> 00:23:10.200] And it's like how every everything that has happened has led us all to this point where we are today.
[00:23:10.200 --> 00:23:19.560] Like when we first connected four years ago, Entrepreneur was our podcast, but it wasn't yet the Entrepreneur League, our actual membership community for founders.
[00:23:19.560 --> 00:23:27.880] So much happened to evolve and get us to where we are today, just based on building the relationships.
[00:23:27.880 --> 00:23:35.480] Like we connected, I connected with so many people that were following Entrepreneur on Instagram, sharing they needed help and they needed a community.
[00:23:35.480 --> 00:23:36.600] And then we created it.
[00:23:36.600 --> 00:23:47.880] So when we build the relationships, when we listen to our friends and our customers, we're able to create what ultimately ends up being what we're both now doing today.
[00:23:47.880 --> 00:23:54.200] And Ingrid, whenever I describe you, when I have like one-on-ones with some of our members or other people and they're like, oh, I want to build a community.
[00:23:54.200 --> 00:23:55.240] How do I do it?
[00:23:55.240 --> 00:23:58.600] I describe you as I'm like, you need to talk to Ingrid.
[00:23:58.600 --> 00:24:02.440] She is the best community builder and creator.
[00:24:02.440 --> 00:24:06.760] She knows all the tips, all the tools, and she creates the most amazing content.
[00:24:06.760 --> 00:24:07.560] You need to talk to her.
[00:24:07.560 --> 00:24:34.440] Like, that's literally what I say to people when I describe you, because you really have just learned and grown over the past, you know, decade of organically creating communities and then building that strength and talent that you have into this business now today, where you're able to make so much impact, helping so many people, business owners, creators build these communities that are just going to help their businesses grow.
[00:24:34.440 --> 00:24:38.840] And every single community you touch and create makes such an impact.
[00:24:38.840 --> 00:24:41.400] So I just, I just love you, Ingrid.
[00:24:41.560 --> 00:24:46.480] I feel, I love you too, but I feel like that's where I feel like you and I are so alike.
[00:24:46.480 --> 00:24:52.960] And I know there's many more of us out there for those of you that may be listening, but I've also always cared.
[00:24:52.960 --> 00:24:58.160] I've cared about people, the world, just things happening around us.
[00:24:58.160 --> 00:25:02.800] And I've always also been very mindful of what's happening around us.
[00:25:02.800 --> 00:25:14.400] Before I post, before I create content, before I hit, you know, publish, I really like to take a second to just look around and run a temp check on just myself and everything.
[00:25:14.400 --> 00:25:32.320] And I think I know actually, because I've heard in the DMs and the comments and the emails that this is what people found most valuable when Working Mom Kind first came out and they started following, coming across the content and everything was that they felt like it really that second.
[00:25:32.320 --> 00:25:33.360] And it's so important.
[00:25:33.360 --> 00:25:39.360] If you can grab them that first second, that is all you need, but it needs to be genuine.
[00:25:39.360 --> 00:25:42.960] You can't just create just to create or just to post to post.
[00:25:42.960 --> 00:25:47.760] I'm in a very different stage now when we talk about creating my business.
[00:25:47.760 --> 00:25:58.160] And I'm really using now social media as my portfolio so that people can see my attitude and how I am and how I joke and trends that I follow and like.
[00:25:58.160 --> 00:26:06.560] But I don't stress as much as I probably should or other people do because I just see it as another avenue to connect to my community.
[00:26:06.560 --> 00:26:10.400] But the real community building is happening outside of social media.
[00:26:10.400 --> 00:26:17.040] Coming up, Ingrid is sharing all her best secrets for building an authentic, thriving community that drives business growth.
[00:26:17.040 --> 00:26:22.240] Plus your invite to join her power group inside the Entrepreneursa League.
[00:26:23.520 --> 00:26:29.960] Founders are always asking us, what has been the secret to our success building multiple seven-figure businesses?
[00:26:29.600 --> 00:26:31.080] Do you want to know how?
[00:26:31.400 --> 00:26:33.080] It's our community.
[00:26:33.080 --> 00:26:40.680] We created the Entrepreneurista League for founders like you because the most successful entrepreneurs do not navigate business alone.
[00:26:40.680 --> 00:26:46.440] We navigate the challenges and opportunities with the support of people we know, love, and trust.
[00:26:46.440 --> 00:26:50.360] The relationships you build in business will be the key to your success.
[00:26:50.360 --> 00:26:52.440] Trust me, it's how we've done it.
[00:26:52.440 --> 00:26:58.120] And I'm giving you access to everything we've used to grow and scale our businesses over the past decade.
[00:26:58.120 --> 00:27:02.520] Plus, you're going to meet your new best friends in business right inside the community.
[00:27:02.520 --> 00:27:24.920] Our members have access to everything we've used to grow our businesses over the past 10 plus years, from in-person events to virtual events, business education, funding resources, office hours with myself and other top founders in your industry, press opportunities, and access to our community platform where you can instantly get all of your business questions answered.
[00:27:24.920 --> 00:27:31.640] You can join us in the community over at refer.entrepranista.com forward slash join us.
[00:27:31.640 --> 00:27:37.400] That's refer.entrepranista.com forward slash join us to join the community.
[00:27:37.400 --> 00:27:40.760] Or head to the show notes right now and tap the link to join.
[00:27:40.760 --> 00:27:42.760] I cannot wait to meet you.
[00:27:43.720 --> 00:27:54.200] Yes, social media is just a tool now to build that really sticky relationship-based community, especially on other platforms, which we're going to dive into now.
[00:27:54.200 --> 00:28:22.160] So, first, I want to share with everyone, and I know many of you who are listening to this episode, you want to hear, you all want to hear some of Ingrid's biggest community-building tips and secrets, and what has allowed her to build not only an Instagram community of over 200,000 moms, but also a very sticky email list and some of the most incredible relationships over the past decade.
[00:28:22.320 --> 00:28:34.080] So we're going to get to all of those secrets, but something happened a couple of months ago, as you know, Ingrid, where we started realizing in the Entrepreneursa League, so many people were coming to you.
[00:28:34.080 --> 00:28:37.440] They were coming to me with questions about how do I build a community?
[00:28:37.440 --> 00:28:38.960] Should I build a community for my business?
[00:28:38.960 --> 00:28:40.560] What are the best tools to use?
[00:28:40.560 --> 00:28:42.320] What platform should I be on?
[00:28:42.320 --> 00:28:43.760] Should I charge for a membership?
[00:28:43.760 --> 00:28:47.120] Should I just build a community to help sell my products?
[00:28:47.120 --> 00:28:51.440] And we're sitting here talking like, I'm like, oh my gosh, I know all of these answers.
[00:28:51.440 --> 00:28:52.400] Like we've done it.
[00:28:52.400 --> 00:28:53.760] You've done it before.
[00:28:53.760 --> 00:28:59.360] How do we package and put all of this content together so we can share this content at scale?
[00:28:59.360 --> 00:29:05.600] Because we need to help everyone who wants to create communities, build the community that you want to create for your specific business.
[00:29:05.600 --> 00:29:09.520] But we realized we couldn't keep doing all of these one-on-one sessions because there weren't enough hours in the day.
[00:29:09.520 --> 00:29:11.680] So we're like, how do we solve this problem?
[00:29:11.680 --> 00:29:21.680] So we sat on Zoom and we were like, all right, maybe we should put a group together so we can actually put all this content together and get everyone together and share this content at scale.
[00:29:21.680 --> 00:29:24.320] So here's the great news.
[00:29:24.320 --> 00:29:44.480] We are officially launching our community builder cohort to share all of my learnings over the past decade, building communities and now the Entrepreneurs League and all of Ingrid's incredible expertise and experience helping so many women build communities and also her own communities as well.
[00:29:44.480 --> 00:29:49.440] So the good news is we are officially open for enrollment today.
[00:29:49.440 --> 00:29:56.400] So, if you're listening to this on the day we release this episode on July 15th, you can enroll to be in this community builder cohort.
[00:29:56.400 --> 00:30:04.520] It's going to be an eight-week program and we'll dive into everything that we're going to be teaching and connecting on during that time.
[00:29:59.840 --> 00:30:06.440] And the group will officially launch in September.
[00:30:06.840 --> 00:30:13.320] So, we want to highlight now really just some of the questions that the two of us just keep getting like such good questions.
[00:30:13.320 --> 00:30:15.400] So, let's dive into some of those right now.
[00:30:15.400 --> 00:30:17.480] But, Ingrid, I'm just so excited to be doing this group with you.
[00:30:17.480 --> 00:30:18.040] It's going to be awesome.
[00:30:18.520 --> 00:30:19.400] I'm so excited.
[00:30:19.400 --> 00:30:28.040] I think that it is the right combination of the past, I don't know, decade between the two of us, of everything that we've done, everyone that we've met.
[00:30:28.040 --> 00:30:37.080] And I think that it is a very, it's the right time because everybody wants a piece of what community can bring for you.
[00:30:37.080 --> 00:30:39.400] And there is a lot of different ways in which you can do it.
[00:30:39.400 --> 00:30:45.080] So, I'm excited to help other people figure out what that piece is for you in the big community puzzle.
[00:30:45.240 --> 00:30:55.480] Community, it doesn't have to be you're building a paid membership community or you're building a community that you're going to ultimately charge money for.
[00:30:55.560 --> 00:31:02.040] Community could be you're building a community of your customers that you're providing value to and bringing people together.
[00:31:02.040 --> 00:31:05.240] And ultimately, you do have products or other services that you're selling.
[00:31:05.240 --> 00:31:12.680] So, in the group, we're going to help you figure out how you should build the community that you want to build to get the ultimate results that you're looking for.
[00:31:12.680 --> 00:31:14.120] So, we'll be diving into all of that.
[00:31:14.120 --> 00:31:19.560] So, all right, Ingrid, I'm going to rapid fire some questions for you that the two of us often get.
[00:31:19.560 --> 00:31:22.200] Are you ready for a community builder rapid fire right now?
[00:31:22.200 --> 00:31:23.480] Let's go.
[00:31:23.480 --> 00:31:24.040] All right.
[00:31:24.040 --> 00:31:26.680] First question: We get this all the time.
[00:31:26.680 --> 00:31:28.680] How do I build a community from scratch?
[00:31:28.680 --> 00:31:32.920] Tell me, rapid fire your best three tips of how to start.
[00:31:32.920 --> 00:31:34.520] You have to have a shared purpose.
[00:31:34.520 --> 00:31:36.040] That's the most important thing.
[00:31:36.040 --> 00:31:42.840] You have to have the time and commitment to create good educational content that is going to attract people, but also make them want to stay.
[00:31:42.840 --> 00:31:47.280] They're coming for the shared purpose, but the content is what is going to make them stay.
[00:31:44.840 --> 00:31:51.200] And the third one is to invest in the right tools and resources to help you grow.
[00:31:51.520 --> 00:31:56.960] And you know, I'm going to say my favorite one is the Entrepreneur League because you have to surround yourself with the right people.
[00:31:56.960 --> 00:32:02.720] If you're building something new, if you're growing something, you need to make sure that you have the right people to support you.
[00:32:02.720 --> 00:32:08.080] And what better than a network of fellow women founders building something alongside of you?
[00:32:08.080 --> 00:32:09.680] So, those are my top three.
[00:32:10.000 --> 00:32:12.320] Yes, I happen to agree with you there, right?
[00:32:12.960 --> 00:32:14.640] All right, next question.
[00:32:14.960 --> 00:32:16.800] We get this all the time.
[00:32:16.800 --> 00:32:20.960] What platforms and what tech should I be using to launch my community?
[00:32:20.960 --> 00:32:21.280] Yes.
[00:32:21.280 --> 00:32:21.520] Okay.
[00:32:21.520 --> 00:32:28.960] So, my top tip for this one is you have to really get to know your target audience and choose platforms where they're already spending their time.
[00:32:28.960 --> 00:32:33.840] Because the last thing you want is to be, for example, on TikTok if your audience is not living there.
[00:32:33.840 --> 00:32:41.520] So, really do your research, get familiar with where they spend their time, and use that platform as the front door to your community.
[00:32:41.520 --> 00:32:48.480] This is very important because if you can establish that as the front door, then after that, you pave the road into the where the magic happens.
[00:32:48.480 --> 00:32:50.000] So, that is my favorite one.
[00:32:50.000 --> 00:32:58.960] It's like, really choose the right platform where your target audience spends their time and then pave that path out of there and own your audience because that's key.
[00:32:59.280 --> 00:33:00.880] Yes, owning your audience.
[00:33:00.880 --> 00:33:04.400] After this rapid fire, we're gonna go deeper into owning your audience.
[00:33:04.400 --> 00:33:09.440] All right, next rapid fire: how do I keep my community engaged?
[00:33:09.440 --> 00:33:13.920] So, in order to keep your community engaged, ding ding, you have to be engaged too.
[00:33:13.920 --> 00:33:21.520] You have to comment, you have to reply to the DMs, you have to share, you have to highlight them, feature them, really make them feel like they belong in your community.
[00:33:21.520 --> 00:33:24.960] Again, they're coming for the shared purpose, but they're staying for the content.
[00:33:24.960 --> 00:33:30.360] And part of the content that you put out there can't just live kind of like floating around and limbo.
[00:33:30.360 --> 00:33:34.520] You really have to engage with your community because that is how they will give back.
[00:33:29.840 --> 00:33:36.600] And I think Steph and I, we always talk about this.
[00:33:36.680 --> 00:33:43.960] It's like you really have to give as much as you get and vice versa, because we're all here to help each other grow.
[00:33:43.960 --> 00:33:48.360] And so when you think about building that community, I always like to think about it like dating.
[00:33:48.360 --> 00:33:50.440] It's like the quickest reference that I can think of.
[00:33:50.440 --> 00:33:54.280] If you like someone and you want it to work out, you're going to invest the time.
[00:33:54.280 --> 00:33:56.200] And so it's the same thing with community building.
[00:33:56.200 --> 00:34:01.000] It won't grow overnight, but if you nurture it, you will see lots of wonderful things happen.
[00:34:01.320 --> 00:34:02.600] Yes, absolutely.
[00:34:02.600 --> 00:34:06.680] Okay, back to our regularly scheduled questions here, not rapid fire.
[00:34:06.680 --> 00:34:13.880] So I want to dive into a few things really about the time it actually takes to build a community.
[00:34:14.200 --> 00:34:23.640] Something that I have just learned as an entrepreneur is what's really hard is we all want things to happen fast, right?
[00:34:23.640 --> 00:34:24.680] We're all starting businesses.
[00:34:24.680 --> 00:34:25.960] We're type A.
[00:34:25.960 --> 00:34:27.400] We want to launch something.
[00:34:27.400 --> 00:34:31.400] We want it to grow quickly and we want to see those results fast.
[00:34:31.720 --> 00:34:36.120] But when building a community, it really is a long game.
[00:34:36.120 --> 00:34:52.200] You know, you can't expect to just put something up and all of a sudden you have, you know, thousands of members and all of this engagement right away, which as an entrepreneur, it can feel, you know, really hard if you're not seeing those instant results right away.
[00:34:52.200 --> 00:35:05.000] How have you learned to manage and deal with like the long game of community building and not always seeing that instant gratification and satisfaction right in real time when you're, when you're trying to build?
[00:35:05.000 --> 00:35:12.200] Well, I feel like most people will relate because if you're building something, and then again, you are probably Taipe A, you like to start things.
[00:35:12.200 --> 00:35:22.640] And so, I think one of the things that helped me stay consistent and on track to really the longing of what it's been to grow work in Mongind has been to not just focus on one thing.
[00:35:22.640 --> 00:35:29.760] So, when I noticed that Instagram was really working and it was growing, I kind of just kind of stopped and said, What's next?
[00:35:29.760 --> 00:35:32.160] Like, how else can I keep them engaged and moving?
[00:35:32.160 --> 00:35:34.240] And so, then that turned into the blog.
[00:35:34.240 --> 00:35:38.160] And I spent some time on the blog because I already knew how to handle Instagram.
[00:35:38.160 --> 00:35:39.760] I mastered it, I was good at it.
[00:35:39.760 --> 00:35:41.760] So, now I move to learn the next thing.
[00:35:41.760 --> 00:35:47.440] Once I figured out the blog and I mastered that, I moved on to the newsletter or the private community and then the newsletter.
[00:35:47.440 --> 00:35:58.000] So, it's really about making sure that you have different tactics up your sleeve in your strategy to grow and not just put them all out there.
[00:35:58.000 --> 00:36:08.480] You really have to understand that in order for you to scale, you have to learn how to do certain things and master them before you move on.
[00:36:08.480 --> 00:36:13.120] Because if you don't do that, then your audience is going to feel just as lost as you feel.
[00:36:13.120 --> 00:36:17.280] So, once you start feeling comfortable with one, then you can move on to the next one.
[00:36:17.280 --> 00:36:27.920] That has led me to seven years now of consistent growth because I've been switching different things and I haven't been afraid of canceling one and completely forgetting about it.
[00:36:27.920 --> 00:36:30.560] I mastered it and it's still moving, it's flowing.
[00:36:30.560 --> 00:36:32.720] So, now I can give attention to the next one.
[00:36:32.720 --> 00:36:36.320] So, it's really helped that now, seven years later, my newsletter is doing great.
[00:36:36.320 --> 00:36:43.920] It's the latest of my adventures and avenues of work in Momkind to reach almost 5,000 subscribers on this.
[00:36:44.000 --> 00:36:49.120] And it's really nice to see that they're evolving with me, which is what I, what I said earlier.
[00:36:49.120 --> 00:36:54.080] Like, you have to understand that this is a long game and we're evolving together and growing.
[00:36:54.080 --> 00:37:03.080] So, really think about what's changing around you and how you can incorporate that into your business instead of just kind of putting all of your eggs in one basket and just focusing on that.
[00:37:03.400 --> 00:37:08.200] Really have other things and always learn, see what others are doing, take it as inspiration.
[00:37:08.200 --> 00:37:15.240] Instead of seeing someone else that aligns with your business as a competitor, really see why is that working for them?
[00:37:15.240 --> 00:37:18.280] Ask yourself, like, what, why is it, why is it working for them?
[00:37:18.280 --> 00:37:19.320] Could that work for me?
[00:37:19.320 --> 00:37:20.920] And how can I make it my own?
[00:37:20.920 --> 00:37:31.720] So, just be open and flexible to new avenues to make that grow because that's how your community can, at the end of the day, really scale, even past beyond what you imagine.
[00:37:31.720 --> 00:37:45.000] I would have never thought that I'd be sitting here seven years later thinking through all of the opportunities that it's brought my way, just because I've stayed consistent, but also growing and evolving with my audience, which I think is very important.
[00:37:45.000 --> 00:37:59.800] I want to go back and hit on something that you shared earlier that I feel like I personally talk about all of the time in the Entrepreneursa League, and that is really owning your community and your audience and what we mean by that.
[00:37:59.800 --> 00:38:08.360] Because you started, you know, on Instagram and growing a community working momkind to 200,000 followers is amazing.
[00:38:08.360 --> 00:38:14.520] But ultimately, as you know, of course, at the end of the day, you don't own your community on Instagram.
[00:38:14.520 --> 00:38:17.560] You don't own your community on Facebook.
[00:38:17.560 --> 00:38:35.160] Those companies own your community because the second, you know, there's an Instagram outage or Facebook goes out or it's no longer, you don't have access to the people that you have cultivated that have followed you on these social media platforms.
[00:38:35.160 --> 00:38:46.960] So, you mentioned, Ingrid, you know, now you've grown your email list to 5,000 people organically from the community that you created on Instagram.
[00:38:46.960 --> 00:38:48.320] And it's like, ding, ding, ding.
[00:38:44.680 --> 00:38:51.200] Yes, that's where we need to own our community.
[00:38:51.440 --> 00:38:56.960] We need to get our community over to a platform that we own, which is email.
[00:38:56.960 --> 00:39:00.240] Once you have someone's email, you can directly reach that person.
[00:39:00.240 --> 00:39:04.960] And that is like the ticket to get access to talk to your community.
[00:39:04.960 --> 00:39:09.200] And that's when social media, as you mentioned before, becomes part of the marketing strategy.
[00:39:09.200 --> 00:39:10.560] And it's a great first touch point.
[00:39:10.560 --> 00:39:17.120] It's great to build that initial audience and to be, you know, sending them content every day, but you need that email address or nothing's happening.
[00:39:17.520 --> 00:39:20.560] You need a way to contact them outside of social media.
[00:39:20.560 --> 00:39:26.240] And that was one of the things where you kind of like live and learn and you have to embrace it.
[00:39:26.240 --> 00:39:33.520] But when I first started the Instagram account and it started growing very rapidly, I was just focusing on that.
[00:39:33.520 --> 00:39:42.160] And that is now my number one piece of advice when I talk to anyone one-on-one or anybody that will listen when I do sessions in person in real life.
[00:39:42.160 --> 00:39:44.080] It's always, do you have an email list?
[00:39:44.080 --> 00:39:53.440] And how are you making sure that all the time and money that you're spending on growing your social media platform audience, that that is translating into something outside of that?
[00:39:53.440 --> 00:39:54.640] And do you have a path cave?
[00:39:54.640 --> 00:39:58.000] Like it's so important because there's talks about TikTok going away.
[00:39:58.000 --> 00:39:59.360] Who knows what's going to happen?
[00:39:59.360 --> 00:40:08.560] But let's say you built it up to 5,000 followers or more, but you don't even know one single person outside of that list or how to contact them should TikTok be like go down.
[00:40:08.560 --> 00:40:11.440] So there's like all these things that you have to think about.
[00:40:11.440 --> 00:40:13.280] It could be so many different things.
[00:40:13.280 --> 00:40:15.520] And for me, it started with the private platform.
[00:40:15.520 --> 00:40:22.880] That was my first interaction with, oh my God, I have their emails and I have their first name and last name and maybe even phone number where I could text them.
[00:40:22.880 --> 00:40:24.560] Like now I have their information.
[00:40:24.560 --> 00:40:28.720] We're connected on a deeper level and in another layer than just social media.
[00:40:28.720 --> 00:40:30.680] And then from there, it went on to the newsletter.
[00:40:29.680 --> 00:40:36.520] So it's like there's different ways that can align with what you're building in which you can be able to own your audience.
[00:40:36.680 --> 00:40:40.440] Just that's key to growing because then they'll stay with you.
[00:40:40.440 --> 00:40:47.320] Even if you switch businesses, even if your account goes down, if somebody hacks you, which as you and I know, happens all the time.
[00:40:47.320 --> 00:40:50.840] I've seen so many entrepreneurs talk about I got locked out of my account.
[00:40:50.840 --> 00:40:55.880] Can somebody connect me with someone on Facebook or Meta, you know, to like help me get out of Instagram jail?
[00:40:55.880 --> 00:40:59.400] Whatever it is, like there's so many technology tech will tech, right?
[00:40:59.400 --> 00:41:02.120] And so like you just have to make sure that you have a backup.
[00:41:02.120 --> 00:41:03.080] That's that's really it.
[00:41:03.080 --> 00:41:06.040] Have a backup and that's owning your audience.
[00:41:06.040 --> 00:41:07.000] Yes, absolutely.
[00:41:07.000 --> 00:41:11.480] And we're going to be diving into all of this in our community builder cohort.
[00:41:11.480 --> 00:41:15.160] And the good news is there's so many really great tools out there.
[00:41:15.160 --> 00:41:17.880] And we've both used similar tools, different tools.
[00:41:17.880 --> 00:41:22.840] We've at Entrepreneur, we've tested lots of community platforms, email platforms.
[00:41:22.840 --> 00:41:28.600] So we're able to share all of our advice based on our learning lessons from using a lot of these tech tools.
[00:41:28.600 --> 00:41:38.760] So we'll be diving into the tech and software to use, how to build your community, how to grow your community, how to figure out what type of community is right for my business.
[00:41:38.760 --> 00:41:53.880] And if ultimately your goal is to monetize your community, whether that's through a paid membership or through your community now buying your services or buying your products, we're going to be covering all of that in this cohort to make it just a bit easier than it was for us.
[00:41:53.880 --> 00:41:56.600] Because it took us years and years to learn this as we went.
[00:41:56.600 --> 00:42:02.840] And now we're going to pack all of this into eight weeks to share all of this information at scale.
[00:42:02.840 --> 00:42:09.160] Cause we want to help everyone build your dream community that can do all the things that you want it to do.
[00:42:09.160 --> 00:42:11.560] And so you all can make as much impact as possible.
[00:42:11.560 --> 00:42:12.920] Yes, I love it.
[00:42:12.920 --> 00:42:19.520] All right, Ingrid, what else do you want everyone to know about you that we have not shared yet?
[00:42:14.840 --> 00:42:21.600] What's your biggest business secret?
[00:42:21.920 --> 00:42:22.880] Oh my God.
[00:42:23.200 --> 00:42:30.160] So, when I get this question asked, there's two secrets that I've found have helped me a lot.
[00:42:30.160 --> 00:42:41.520] And one of them is to stop seeing other businesses and fellow entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs as competition and instead seeing them as inspiration.
[00:42:41.520 --> 00:42:47.760] And I tell this to anyone that will talk to me, they're like, Well, I don't know, like my niche is saturated, or like I'm building a product that's already out there.
[00:42:47.760 --> 00:42:50.160] And I'm like, Yes, that's great.
[00:42:50.160 --> 00:42:58.080] If you're building something that is in one way, shape, or another already out there, then that means you're on the right path because it's out there and it's working.
[00:42:58.080 --> 00:43:21.920] And when you stop and think about all the different brands of makeup and all the different brand of vehicles and all the different brands of tech that are all doing the same thing, but just something different, you start to realize that you're like, Hey, I can actually do this because it really is all about your why and being genuine to who you really are as a person and the reason why you're building this product or why you're doing this, like providing the service to this person.
[00:43:21.920 --> 00:43:37.760] If you can hold on to your why and put it out there every chance that you get and put your story out there, this is just the biggest tip that I will give to anyone that will listen: stop seeing other people as competition and instead see them as inspiration.
[00:43:37.760 --> 00:43:41.360] And then the second one, it really is more about giving back.
[00:43:41.360 --> 00:43:45.680] And it goes back to our point of giving, you know, giving as much as you want to get back.
[00:43:45.680 --> 00:44:00.000] And so, every time I have discovery calls or one-on-one conversations, or Steph refers someone my way, I always like to finish those calls with: is there anyone that I could introduce you from my network that can help you with what you're building or can take you one step further in your mission?
[00:44:00.120 --> 00:44:07.400] And you know, at the end of the day, also on the other side, is there anyone that you think can benefit from my community building services in your network?
[00:44:07.400 --> 00:44:10.920] I would love for you to refer me or pass on along my information.
[00:44:10.920 --> 00:44:19.800] I think we're all so busy with how noisy everything is of like social media in our lives and how busy we get that we forget that we're all just trying to grow.
[00:44:19.800 --> 00:44:23.960] And the fastest way for us to do that is to help each other.
[00:44:23.960 --> 00:44:38.920] And so, don't forget to give back as much as you get and never join calls just to kind of like suck all the information from that one person, but make sure that there's something that you can give back to them because that's how they'll remember you.
[00:44:38.920 --> 00:44:40.120] So, those are my top tips.
[00:44:40.280 --> 00:44:40.920] Love that.
[00:44:40.920 --> 00:44:42.440] I love those two tips.
[00:44:42.440 --> 00:44:49.480] Something I learned many, many years ago through one of the first groups that Courtney and I joined was that givers game.
[00:44:49.480 --> 00:44:53.320] That was the whole philosophy of that network that we were in many years ago.
[00:44:53.320 --> 00:45:08.360] And it's so true when you lead from a place of giving and sharing and collaborating, everything always ends up coming back full circle to all of us because it connects us all, it helps us all do more and win together.
[00:45:08.360 --> 00:45:13.960] And there is, I say this all the time: there is enough business out there for absolutely everyone.
[00:45:13.960 --> 00:45:23.000] And as you were just mentioning before, you know, in the auto industry, cosmetics industry, like if you look at your beauty counter, there you have tons of beauty products, right?
[00:45:23.000 --> 00:45:27.480] There isn't just one mascara brand or one foundation brand or one skincare brand, water bottles.
[00:45:27.480 --> 00:45:29.800] Like, there is enough room out there.
[00:45:29.800 --> 00:45:35.880] So, for those of you listening to this right now, if you're thinking, oh, all this stuff, it already exists, like, why my product?
[00:45:35.880 --> 00:45:42.840] Like, because your product or your business has something special and unique and you behind it.
[00:45:42.840 --> 00:45:54.080] And there's so much opportunity out there if you can cultivate the community around your business, show your unique value and what's special, and have that strategy to implement it.
[00:45:54.080 --> 00:45:55.760] Like, you can absolutely do it.
[00:45:55.760 --> 00:45:56.160] Yeah.
[00:45:56.160 --> 00:45:57.680] Yes, you can.
[00:45:58.320 --> 00:46:00.000] Last question for you, Ingrid.
[00:46:00.000 --> 00:46:02.880] What does being an entrepreneur mean to you?
[00:46:03.200 --> 00:46:14.880] To me, it really means, I would say, not being afraid to pivot because I ever since, I mean, I've been a member since the very beginning.
[00:46:14.880 --> 00:46:24.640] And over this past few years, one common theme that I, that I noticed from fellow entrepreneurs is the grit in starting over and reinventing yourself.
[00:46:24.640 --> 00:46:30.000] And like we mentioned earlier, you know, maybe leaving your nine to five to really focus on the business that you really believe in.
[00:46:30.000 --> 00:46:35.520] And so I've learned through just reading all these stories that it's okay to pivot.
[00:46:35.520 --> 00:46:41.360] Some people might not necessarily see it as something positive, but it really means growth.
[00:46:41.360 --> 00:46:52.960] And that's, that's key for me because it also leads to when I do pivot, just like I did now with my Grow with Community business, my second business, is that there's other people out there.
[00:46:52.960 --> 00:46:55.200] So it links back to having that support.
[00:46:55.200 --> 00:47:04.960] So as an entrepreneur, I get to see other people making these pivots, making me comfortable and feeling like this is okay, but also having them to relate back to.
[00:47:04.960 --> 00:47:07.040] So it's like pivoting is okay.
[00:47:07.280 --> 00:47:12.240] Like making changes is a part of growing and evolving, especially in business.
[00:47:12.240 --> 00:47:17.120] So pivot, pivot, pivot, any chance that you can, because that's how you grow.
[00:47:17.120 --> 00:47:18.800] Oh my gosh, I love it.
[00:47:18.800 --> 00:47:23.920] Well, I cannot wait for our community builder cohort.
[00:47:23.920 --> 00:47:36.760] So, for our fellow entrepreneurs, if you are trying to figure out how to build community in your business and you want our support, Ingrid and I are going to be leading our eight-week cohort.
[00:47:29.840 --> 00:47:38.440] So, registration is open now.
[00:47:38.440 --> 00:47:40.120] You can apply now to be in the group.
[00:47:40.120 --> 00:47:42.200] It's going to be an eight-week program.
[00:47:42.200 --> 00:47:45.880] We're going to be diving into a specific topic each week.
[00:47:45.880 --> 00:47:50.520] We're going to meet for an hour and a half every single week for eight weeks starting mid-September.
[00:47:50.520 --> 00:47:54.680] You're also going to get a one-on-one with either myself or Ingrid.
[00:47:54.680 --> 00:47:59.720] You can pick who you want to meet with for an additional one-on-one as part of being in the cohort.
[00:47:59.720 --> 00:48:09.240] We're going to have a special room in the community platform for you where you're all going to be able to connect and collaborate and help each other grow your communities together.
[00:48:09.240 --> 00:48:18.360] And you're going to learn everything that Ingrid and I have learned over the past decade of building communities over an eight-week period.
[00:48:18.360 --> 00:48:33.800] So, we're cramming all of our knowledge, everything that we know, all of our learning lessons into an eight-week period so you can really jumpstart and build and grow your community and have us to support you along the way.
[00:48:33.800 --> 00:48:39.000] So, if you're interested in getting into the group, we only have a few spots available.
[00:48:39.000 --> 00:48:41.160] It's going to be a small, intimate group.
[00:48:41.160 --> 00:48:47.160] Be sure to apply and join right away because it will definitely fill very quickly.
[00:48:47.160 --> 00:48:51.000] I know we already have a wait list with lots of entrepreneurs who want to be on it.
[00:48:51.000 --> 00:48:55.080] So, apply and join if you want to be in that group.
[00:48:55.080 --> 00:48:59.880] And, of course, if you have any questions, you can reach out to us, send us a DM.
[00:48:59.880 --> 00:49:03.480] If you head over to the show notes right now, you can click the link to apply to be in the group.
[00:49:03.480 --> 00:49:08.440] And Ingrid, tell everyone also where can everyone find you, follow you.
[00:49:08.440 --> 00:49:15.840] If those who are listening are interested in working with Grow With Community to build their community with you, how can everyone work with you?
[00:49:15.840 --> 00:49:17.920] Share all the links and we'll put all of that in the show notes too.
[00:49:18.080 --> 00:49:18.400] Yes.
[00:49:14.920 --> 00:49:29.360] So my website is letsgwc.com and you can find a form where you can submit your information so we can get on a call and really see if this is a good fit so I can help you grow your community.
[00:49:29.360 --> 00:49:30.560] And then I'm also on Instagram.
[00:49:30.560 --> 00:49:32.400] I'm going to share all three of my handles.
[00:49:32.400 --> 00:49:41.840] We have at working momkind, if you're a mom and or a supporter and you want to dive into that world, then I have at grow with community, which is all of my community related content.
[00:49:41.840 --> 00:49:47.440] And then my personal one, if you want to get to know me on a deeper level, it's it's Ingrid's world.
[00:49:47.760 --> 00:49:49.840] Yes, go head to the show notes right now.
[00:49:49.840 --> 00:49:53.840] Click follow on all of Ingrid's Instagram accounts.
[00:49:53.840 --> 00:49:56.640] I mentioned this before, but you will see.
[00:49:56.640 --> 00:50:00.480] Ingrid is literally the best content creator ever.
[00:50:00.480 --> 00:50:02.560] I'm obsessed with all of your content, Ingrid.
[00:50:02.560 --> 00:50:04.000] So I want to tell everyone to follow you.
[00:50:04.000 --> 00:50:05.360] Go follow me on all those channels.
[00:50:05.360 --> 00:50:09.520] They are so, so engaging and the content really is just the best.
[00:50:09.520 --> 00:50:11.680] So go hit follow right now, head to those show notes.
[00:50:11.680 --> 00:50:23.120] And if you want to apply to be in our group and get lots of time with the two of us to learn how we've built these communities and how you absolutely can too, click through and you can apply to join our community builder cohort.
[00:50:23.120 --> 00:50:29.760] Ingrid, thank you so much for spending the time with me and all of our incredible entrepreneurs.
[00:50:29.760 --> 00:50:33.200] I know everyone was so excited to hear this episode with you today.
[00:50:33.200 --> 00:50:34.960] So thank you again for being here.
[00:50:34.960 --> 00:50:39.600] I'm Stephanie, and this is the best business meeting I've ever had.
[00:50:39.920 --> 00:50:41.200] Hi, entrepreneurs.
[00:50:41.200 --> 00:50:42.240] It's Steph here.
[00:50:42.240 --> 00:50:49.360] And I hope today's episode has left you feeling inspired and with some actionable tips that you can apply to your own business.
[00:50:49.360 --> 00:50:56.720] The way we've grown our community and resources is by sharing content like this for years and asking for help along the way.
[00:50:56.720 --> 00:51:02.200] So here's where we need your help so we can continue to make as much impact as possible together.
[00:51:02.200 --> 00:51:11.960] If you can leave us a five-star review and extra credit if you share this episode on Instagram, LinkedIn, or DM it to a founder friend who would benefit from hearing it.
[00:51:11.960 --> 00:51:19.240] Not only would it mean the world to us, but you sharing this episode is going to help someone who just may need to hear what we share today.
[00:51:19.240 --> 00:51:29.000] And you know I love nothing more than giveaways and prizes, so every month I'll be giving away a one-on-one session with me to someone who has shared the episode and left a review.
[00:51:29.000 --> 00:51:31.880] So send me a personal DM over on Instagram.
[00:51:31.880 --> 00:51:36.760] I'm at Steph Jill Carton once you've done it, so you can be entered to win.
[00:51:36.760 --> 00:51:42.520] Wishing you a productive week ahead and stay tuned for another impactful episode next week.
Prompt 2: Key Takeaways
Now please extract the key takeaways from the transcript content I provided.
Extract the most important key takeaways from this part of the conversation. Use a single sentence statement (the key takeaway) rather than milquetoast descriptions like "the hosts discuss...".
Limit the key takeaways to a maximum of 3. The key takeaways should be insightful and knowledge-additive.
IMPORTANT: Return ONLY valid JSON, no explanations or markdown. Ensure:
- All strings are properly quoted and escaped
- No trailing commas
- All braces and brackets are balanced
Format: {"key_takeaways": ["takeaway 1", "takeaway 2"]}
Prompt 3: Segments
Now identify 2-4 distinct topical segments from this part of the conversation.
For each segment, identify:
- Descriptive title (3-6 words)
- START timestamp when this topic begins (HH:MM:SS format)
- Double check that the timestamp is accurate - a timestamp will NEVER be greater than the total length of the audio
- Most important Key takeaway from that segment. Key takeaway must be specific and knowledge-additive.
- Brief summary of the discussion
IMPORTANT: The timestamp should mark when the topic/segment STARTS, not a range. Look for topic transitions and conversation shifts.
Return ONLY valid JSON. Ensure all strings are properly quoted, no trailing commas:
{
"segments": [
{
"segment_title": "Topic Discussion",
"timestamp": "01:15:30",
"key_takeaway": "main point from this segment",
"segment_summary": "brief description of what was discussed"
}
]
}
Timestamp format: HH:MM:SS (e.g., 00:05:30, 01:22:45) marking the START of each segment.
Prompt 4: Media Mentions
Now scan the transcript content I provided for ACTUAL mentions of specific media titles:
Find explicit mentions of:
- Books (with specific titles)
- Movies (with specific titles)
- TV Shows (with specific titles)
- Music/Songs (with specific titles)
DO NOT include:
- Websites, URLs, or web services
- Other podcasts or podcast names
IMPORTANT:
- Only include items explicitly mentioned by name. Do not invent titles.
- Valid categories are: "Book", "Movie", "TV Show", "Music"
- Include the exact phrase where each item was mentioned
- Find the nearest proximate timestamp where it appears in the conversation
- THE TIMESTAMP OF THE MEDIA MENTION IS IMPORTANT - DO NOT INVENT TIMESTAMPS AND DO NOT MISATTRIBUTE TIMESTAMPS
- Double check that the timestamp is accurate - a timestamp will NEVER be greater than the total length of the audio
- Timestamps are given as ranges, e.g. 01:13:42.520 --> 01:13:46.720. Use the EARLIER of the 2 timestamps in the range.
Return ONLY valid JSON. Ensure all strings are properly quoted and escaped, no trailing commas:
{
"media_mentions": [
{
"title": "Exact Title as Mentioned",
"category": "Book",
"author_artist": "N/A",
"context": "Brief context of why it was mentioned",
"context_phrase": "The exact sentence or phrase where it was mentioned",
"timestamp": "estimated time like 01:15:30"
}
]
}
If no media is mentioned, return: {"media_mentions": []}

[00:02:22.040 --> 00:02:28.040] It's beyond the Graham with no filters, no limits, and plenty of surprises.
[00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:15.800] It truly is.
[00:04:38.560 --> 00:04:39.120] Yes.
[00:05:22.400 --> 00:05:23.680] It's just crazy.
[00:05:44.120 --> 00:05:45.160] And that's what we were doing.
[00:07:36.240 --> 00:07:40.000] And so naturally, I was scrolling on Instagram at 3 a.m.
[00:07:40.160 --> 00:07:41.680] nursing my baby.
[00:08:05.920 --> 00:08:07.120] And that's just the beginning.
[00:08:07.120 --> 00:08:08.160] That's just like the surface.
[00:08:47.840 --> 00:08:48.720] It's still evolving.
[00:10:05.720 --> 00:10:07.960] And I started sharing the stories.
[00:10:07.960 --> 00:10:10.280] And that's when it was just like, I feel this way too.
[00:10:10.280 --> 00:10:11.480] Or what about my story?
[00:10:11.480 --> 00:10:13.640] And like, I even connected moms.
[00:11:32.480 --> 00:11:33.680] It's 2017.
[00:11:33.680 --> 00:11:37.040] You create this account, it starts taking off pretty quickly.
[00:11:37.040 --> 00:11:40.720] The audience is growing, people are connecting.
[00:11:40.720 --> 00:11:42.000] Then, what happened next?
[00:11:42.000 --> 00:11:42.960] What did you do?
[00:13:14.440 --> 00:13:15.880] I knew my target audience.
[00:13:15.880 --> 00:13:18.840] I knew everything that I, I had all the boxes checked.
[00:13:18.840 --> 00:13:31.720] So at that point, it was like going with my instincts and feelings, similar to what we were just talking about, really what is going on around me and doing a temp check and focusing on translating that into content that was very relevant that same day.
[00:13:32.040 --> 00:13:35.560] And I think that's really what helped grow.
[00:14:20.240 --> 00:14:21.440] Hi, Entrepreneurs.

[00:15:27.280 --> 00:15:28.720] I'll see you there.
[00:15:38.480 --> 00:15:49.840] When did you ultimately decide to leave your nine-to-five job to focus on building what now is Working Mom Kind and your new business grow with community?
[00:15:49.840 --> 00:15:50.880] And everything else.
[00:16:16.520 --> 00:16:17.240] We connected.
[00:16:17.240 --> 00:16:21.240] She was hosting an online event and she was like, hey, do you want to moderate this session?
[00:16:21.240 --> 00:16:22.840] So I was like, sure, let's do it.
[00:16:22.840 --> 00:16:24.440] We'll support each other.
[00:16:24.440 --> 00:16:25.480] I'll help you promote.
[00:16:25.480 --> 00:16:26.360] It'll be great.
[00:16:39.880 --> 00:16:41.320] We would share each other's posts.
[00:16:41.320 --> 00:16:46.440] Like we really were connected again because of the communities, two different communities that came together.
[00:16:46.520 --> 00:16:47.880] Now I met another person.
[00:18:08.960 --> 00:18:10.400] I absolutely love it.
[00:18:10.400 --> 00:18:18.080] Okay, so tell me now and tell everyone about your new business, grow with community and who you help and work with.
[00:18:18.080 --> 00:18:20.240] Yes, so let's just backtrack a little bit.
[00:18:20.240 --> 00:18:22.160] So I stayed at House of Wise.
[00:18:22.320 --> 00:18:23.360] It was a great time.
[00:19:26.640 --> 00:19:27.680] I created the website.
[00:19:51.080 --> 00:19:52.760] And so I started work.
[00:19:52.760 --> 00:19:55.960] I worked with you guys at the Entrepreneurs League, which I love so much.
[00:19:55.960 --> 00:19:56.840] I love your team.
[00:19:56.840 --> 00:19:57.800] I love the community.
[00:20:18.920 --> 00:20:20.200] I'm helping them out too.
[00:21:14.440 --> 00:21:16.000] I wake up thinking about community.
[00:21:16.000 --> 00:21:17.440] I talk to people about community.
[00:21:14.840 --> 00:21:18.640] I gather people together.
[00:22:30.400 --> 00:22:31.600] It's like evolution.
[00:22:31.840 --> 00:22:34.160] It's just, you evolve as a person.
[00:22:57.280 --> 00:22:59.240] I love that you're sharing this.
[00:23:54.200 --> 00:23:55.240] How do I do it?
[00:24:38.840 --> 00:24:41.400] So I just, I just love you, Ingrid.
[00:25:32.320 --> 00:25:33.360] And it's so important.
[00:26:31.400 --> 00:26:33.080] It's our community.
[00:26:50.360 --> 00:26:52.440] Trust me, it's how we've done it.
[00:27:40.760 --> 00:27:42.760] I cannot wait to meet you.
[00:28:37.440 --> 00:28:38.960] Should I build a community for my business?
[00:28:38.960 --> 00:28:40.560] What are the best tools to use?
[00:28:40.560 --> 00:28:42.320] What platform should I be on?
[00:28:42.320 --> 00:28:43.760] Should I charge for a membership?
[00:28:43.760 --> 00:28:47.120] Should I just build a community to help sell my products?
[00:28:47.120 --> 00:28:51.440] And we're sitting here talking like, I'm like, oh my gosh, I know all of these answers.
[00:28:51.440 --> 00:28:52.400] Like we've done it.
[00:28:52.400 --> 00:28:53.760] You've done it before.
[00:29:21.680 --> 00:29:24.320] So here's the great news.
[00:30:17.480 --> 00:30:18.040] It's going to be awesome.
[00:30:18.520 --> 00:30:19.400] I'm so excited.
[00:31:22.200 --> 00:31:23.480] Let's go.
[00:31:23.480 --> 00:31:24.040] All right.
[00:31:24.040 --> 00:31:26.680] First question: We get this all the time.
[00:31:26.680 --> 00:31:28.680] How do I build a community from scratch?
[00:31:28.680 --> 00:31:32.920] Tell me, rapid fire your best three tips of how to start.
[00:31:32.920 --> 00:31:34.520] You have to have a shared purpose.
[00:31:34.520 --> 00:31:36.040] That's the most important thing.
[00:32:12.960 --> 00:32:14.640] All right, next question.
[00:32:14.960 --> 00:32:16.800] We get this all the time.
[00:32:16.800 --> 00:32:20.960] What platforms and what tech should I be using to launch my community?
[00:32:20.960 --> 00:32:21.280] Yes.
[00:32:21.280 --> 00:32:21.520] Okay.
[00:32:59.280 --> 00:33:00.880] Yes, owning your audience.
[00:34:01.320 --> 00:34:02.600] Yes, absolutely.
[00:34:23.640 --> 00:34:24.680] We're all starting businesses.
[00:34:24.680 --> 00:34:25.960] We're type A.
[00:35:38.160 --> 00:35:39.760] I mastered it, I was good at it.
[00:36:27.920 --> 00:36:30.560] I mastered it and it's still moving, it's flowing.
[00:38:46.960 --> 00:38:48.320] And it's like, ding, ding, ding.
[00:39:09.200 --> 00:39:10.560] And it's a great first touch point.
[00:39:58.000 --> 00:39:59.360] Who knows what's going to happen?
[00:40:22.880 --> 00:40:24.560] Like now I have their information.
[00:41:02.120 --> 00:41:03.080] That's that's really it.
[00:41:03.080 --> 00:41:06.040] Have a backup and that's owning your audience.
[00:41:06.040 --> 00:41:07.000] Yes, absolutely.
[00:42:11.560 --> 00:42:12.920] Yes, I love it.
[00:42:12.920 --> 00:42:19.520] All right, Ingrid, what else do you want everyone to know about you that we have not shared yet?
[00:42:14.840 --> 00:42:21.600] What's your biggest business secret?
[00:42:21.920 --> 00:42:22.880] Oh my God.
[00:42:47.760 --> 00:42:50.160] And I'm like, Yes, that's great.
[00:44:40.280 --> 00:44:40.920] Love that.
[00:44:40.920 --> 00:44:42.440] I love those two tips.
[00:45:55.760 --> 00:45:56.160] Yeah.
[00:45:56.160 --> 00:45:57.680] Yes, you can.
[00:47:04.960 --> 00:47:07.040] So it's like pivoting is okay.
[00:47:07.280 --> 00:47:12.240] Like making changes is a part of growing and evolving, especially in business.
[00:47:12.240 --> 00:47:17.120] So pivot, pivot, pivot, any chance that you can, because that's how you grow.
[00:47:17.120 --> 00:47:18.800] Oh my gosh, I love it.
[00:47:40.120 --> 00:47:42.200] It's going to be an eight-week program.
[00:48:39.000 --> 00:48:41.160] It's going to be a small, intimate group.
[00:49:18.080 --> 00:49:18.400] Yes.
[00:49:14.920 --> 00:49:29.360] So my website is letsgwc.com and you can find a form where you can submit your information so we can get on a call and really see if this is a good fit so I can help you grow your community.
[00:49:29.360 --> 00:49:30.560] And then I'm also on Instagram.

[00:50:41.200 --> 00:50:42.240] It's Steph here.
